For more than twenty years, he has devoted his time and effort to a variety of artistic and other volunteer organizations in the region. He has been President of the Vancouver Art Gallery where he organized and implemented an endowment fund aimed at acquiring new art and, as President of the city's symphony orchestra, he oversaw its relocation into a renovated and expanded new venue. Recently, he provided the major funding for, and became the chairman of the innovative Arts Stabilization Program that provides funding for many organizations in the field. (2)
