He is an eminent scholar, whose work on Tudor history has received international accolades. With more than fifty historical studies to his credit, including a sensitive portrayal of Thomas More, he is a recognized expert in the medieval renaissance and reformation periods. Notably, he edited and interpreted the Collected Works of Erasmus and The History of the University of Oxford. Former President and Vice-Chancellor of St. Michael's College, and current President of the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies, he is a classic humanist whose influence resonates throughout academic circles in Canada and abroad.
