For more than half a century, he has encouraged harmony and understanding between the francophone and anglophone communities in Canada. Former Professor at the University of Toronto, this scholar has written extensively, in both official languages, about comparative English- and French-Canadian literature. In so doing, he has increased awareness of our country's rich linguistic and literary heritage and promoted its study.
