President of the Diabetic Children's Foundation and a pediatrician at the Montreal Children's Hospital, she has devoted her life to the care of children with diabetes. Long-time Professor of Pediatrics at McGill University, she is the author of numerous books and articles on cystic fibrosis and diabetes, most notably a handbook for patients and their families. She is a founding member of Camp Carowanis for diabetic children, where she volunteered as its secretary and medical director for more than twenty-five years. Her reputation for promoting quality care for children makes her a sought-after speaker nation-wide.
