As Calgary's longest serving member of City Council, she also carved out a record as a woman with one of the longest careers in Canadian municipal politics. Throughout her involvement in public service, she served on a number of municipal committees, focusing special attention on community services and the plight of the city's homeless people. Conscious of the need for change, she has devoted considerable effort on programs and initiatives that have resulted in a wide variety of improvements in the lives of Calgarians.
