From the early days of the Canadian film and television industry, he has been a generous mentor to new talent, freely sharing his experience with fledgling producers and distributors. For more than forty years, he has supported domestic television programming by producing popular wildlife and children's series, and was among the first to make his work available in both official languages. His many award-winning documentaries have sensitized people to the importance of promoting conservation while providing an international showcase for Canadian talent.
