In addition to his success in business as founder and president of an important import-export company, he has been a generous philanthropist to many Canadian museums. The Beaverbrook Art Gallery and the National Gallery of Canada, among others, have been the recipients of a great number of works of art from his collection. He has also donated outstanding examples of Indian and Inuit artifacts to the Canadian Museum of Civilization. He continues to be actively dedicated to social, cultural and humanitarian causes.
