Whether as counsel, judge of the Superior Court, or chief justice of the Quebec Court of Appeal, Pierre Michaud earned admiration and great respect. Known for his determination, he played a key role in the reform of the Code of Civil Procedure and was the promoter of major projects to improve access to justice. A visiting professor at the Université de Montréal and a sought-after speaker, he has also distinguished himself in many organizations. At the Canadian Judicial Council, for example, he made an exceptional contribution in terms of judicial ethics and relations between the judiciary and the media. His energy, forward-thinking business sense and exemplary dedication to community make him one of our great builders. Under his leadership, the family business grew steadily, leading to the creation of the Réno-Dépôt stores. He serves as co-chairman of the board of Réno-Dépôt, vice-chairman of the board of La Banque Laurentienne and chairman of the board of Provigo Inc., and played a key role in the expansion of the latter company. Recognized for his social involvement, he is committed to giving of his time and personal wealth to numerous community organizations, including the United Way. He has also sponsored Auberge Réno-Dépôt, which provides accommodation for disabled children and their families.
