He has made significant contributions to Canada's pharmaceutical and health sciences, through his career as a professor and administrator at the universities of Alberta and British Columbia. He provided effective leadership in research, education and patient care for such organizations as the Canadian Lung Association and the British Columbia Transplant Society. Highly respected by his peers as well as by the local community, he has been a major influence on a number of young Canadians who have gone on to successful careers in academia and industry.
