A respected politician, he has spent nineteen years of his career as a member of the Alberta Legislature, holding several important cabinet posts. After retiring from politics, he returned to the legal profession and also served as chairman of the Commission on Future Health Care for Albertans and a Royal Commission on national passenger transportation.
