A pioneer in the use of symbolic pictures in signage, he has made the built environment more accessible through the development of a new discipline in wayfinding. He was the co-author of Canada's national standard for signs and symbols in the workplace and is an international leader in his chosen art, dedicated to building "readable" communication systems through graphic designs.
