A prospector since the early 1920s, who has become an authority on mining, she remains one of the few women in that field, and was the first woman president of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada. During World War II, she helped facilitate the search for strategic metals. Recently, her commitment to mining made it possible for the Canadian Museum of Nature to establish a gallery in her name and to acquire one of the world's most important mineral collections.
