A professor at the University of Victoria, where he introduced the teaching of Quebec literature, he has been dedicated to western Canada's Francophone community for more than thirty years. He is an active member of several historical and cultural societies. His contribution to the Francophone community has done much to bring the regions's language groups closer together.
