The first woman to successively become Assistant National Commissioner and National Commissioner of the St. John Ambulance, she is, by virtue of this, the first woman of the Commonwealth to have held these two positions. She has been deeply involved in charitable endeavours for the past fifty years while, at the same time, has led a very active professional life. In the same way, she has become an ambassador not only for the St. John Ambulance and the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem, but also for Canada.
