A leader in research into Hansen's disease, he has dedicated his professional life to eradicating the illness that, throughout human history, has so unjustly stigmatized people with leprosy. His work contributed to the founding and operation of a world-renowned research laboratory at Montr+al's Institut Armand-Frappier, while his many publications and public appearances have helped demystify the disease and fight discrimination against those who live with it.
