First francophone to hold the position of president of the Canadian Biological Council and to receive the Gold Medal of the Entomological Society of Canada, he was also one of the first to become well-known in the field of agricultural research during a long and prestigious career with Agriculture Canada, where he served until recently as Assistant Deputy Minister of the Research Branch.
