Roderick Robbie is an architect known for his innovation. His designs include the Canada Pavilion at Expo '67 and Toronto's SkyDome. SkyDome is the first stadium in the world to feature an 11 000-ton steel retractable roof. He has since been the lead architect on similar projects around the globe. His designs have helped to establish the precast building industry in this country and, in the 1960s, he helped lead a project that resulted in a dramatic new approach to constructing schools. Recognized internationally, he continues to enhance Canada's reputation in architecture.
