He is an outstanding scientist who has shown commitment to higher education in Canada. Following a distinguished career in teaching, research and administration at McGill University, he is now Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Queen's University, and a Professor in the Department of Biology. An international authority on the dynamics of fish populations, he headed the Ocean Production Enhancement Network and has served as an advisor to the public and private sectors. The recipient of numerous awards in his field, he continues to promote excellence in fisheries research.
