Fernand Arsenault has made his mark as a champion of education, culture and minority rights. This professor emeritus and former dean has made major contributions to the Université de Moncton, helping to broaden its reputation. He is responsible for, among other things, the creation of a doctoral program in French studies and the construction of the Arts building. He also played a leading role in the creation of the celebrated Arthur LeBlanc Quartet. A great unifier, he is highly respected for his dedication to the in promotion of Acadian rights and to bringing together local French and English communities. His participation in a variety of organizations such as Amnesty International and the Canadian Association for Mental Health also demonstrates his great generosity.
