One of our leading gerontologists, Betty Havens is committed to improving the lives of senior citizens. While working in the provincial Department of Health in 1971, she designed and conducted the Aging in Manitoba Longitudinal Study, the longest continuous and most comprehensive investigation of its kind in Canada. For over 30 years, she has been the principal investigator of the project. Professor and senior scholar at the University of Manitoba, she has served as president of the Canadian Association on Gerontology and is a consultant to numerous national and international organizations.
