His legacy of excellence applies to the worlds of business, sport, education and community service. A lawyer by training, he is the former president, chief executive officer and chairman of the board of Investors Group Inc. During his tenure, this company expanded significantly, both in terms of business endeavours and philanthropy. A former member of the Olympic sailing team, he was chairman of the Manitoba Sports Foundation and of the highly successful 1999 Pan-American Games, held in Winnipeg. He continues to serve in numerous leadership roles, including those of chancellor of the University of Winnipeg and chairman of the Business Council of Manitoba.
