A self-taught carver, he has gained an international reputation as one of Canada's finest Inuit sculptors. His work is known for its depictions of fantastic creatures, for its vivid detail and for the very power and presence it exudes. More than an artist, he is known in the Baffin communities for his generous assistance to many families who are in need and for his strong support of youth projects in the Inuit artistic community.
