Having devoted his professional life to the managerial and publishing sides of journalism, he became owner and publisher of the Kingston Whig-Standard in 1976. He has also contributed to a host of organizations in his native city; particularly as founding president of the Kingston Rowing Club and director of the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes.
