One of Canada's leading clinical immunologists, he is internationally recognized as co-discoverer of the carcinoembryonic antigen, which resulted in the development of the first practical serological test for bowel cancer and which has had a major impact on the study of tumor biology. Equally well-known as a teacher and administrator, he is now Vice-Principal (Academic) at McGill University and Senior Physician in the Division of Clinical Immunology and Allergy at the Montreal General Hospital.
