He is one of the Canadians who have done the most to alleviate suffering in the Third World. On retirement from a military career he joined the Red Cross and has worked tirelessly at relief to refugees and victims of disaster in India, Vietnam, Somalia and Bangladesh. His current work with Afghan refugees only adds to the hundreds of thousands of people he has assisted.
