By 1982 he had served for seventeen years with wisdom and energy as Chief of the Gordon Reserve in Saskatchewan. Since then he has been its counsellor in constitutional negotiations. Over the years he has made advances in housing, health care and education for the Reserve and, in the wider field, helped found the Federation of Saskatchewan Indians, developed tourist facilities on reserves, advised the provincial Department of Agriculture, and served on the provincial Human Rights Commission.
