After entering business in St John's he became the holder of the first student flying permit in Newfoundland. His pioneer bush-flying service brought benefit and relief to many an isolated settlement and laid the foundation for Eastern Provincial Airways. Having since become a company director and president, he has put much voluntary effort into health care transportation and the Newfoundland Regiment.
