Novelist and naturalist now living at Port Hope, Ontario. He began writing after army service in the Second World War and two years in the Arctic. His passionate concern for the endangered species of wildlife is conveyed in many of his books, which enjoy a very wide readership not only in English speaking countries but, through translation, throughout the world.
