As a farmer, teacher and Member of the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island, she has been a lifelong advocate of the value of rural life and rural communities. Her talent for working and empathizing with people, whatever their role or political convictions, made her an excellent Minister of Education, community volunteer and spokesperson on women's issues.
