A native of Red Deer, Alberta, he joined the King's Own Calgary Tanks and was taken prisoner at Dieppe in 1942. He later became a successful farmer in central Alberta and was founding president of the Alberta Hog Producers Marketing Board. Over many years, he has devoted himself to good causes in his community and province, including the Canadian Cancer Society and the National Prisoners of War Association.
