During the Second World War, she played a vital and voluntary role in ensuring that Japanese- Canadian children in British Columbia received a proper education. This she did by organizing schools in camps and by supervising teacher training. After the war, she assisted in the social adjustment of Japanese evacuees in Toronto. Over the years she has also been committed to church and community affairs.
