Professor emeritus at the University of Western Ontario, Robert McMurtry has been instrumental in strengthening health care delivery in Canada. An orthopedic surgeon, he created Canada's first trauma unit at Sunnybrook Hospital. In his work as a health policy advisor, notably with the Romanow Commission, he has contributed to the long-term sustainability of Canada's health care system.
