Alia Hogben is a champion of the rights of women and of understanding between faiths. A devoted social worker, she has been a long-standing member of the Canadian Council of Muslim Women and currently serves as its executive director. She is an articulate spokesperson for the humane, tolerant and equality-based interpretation of Islam and for interfaith dialogue. With persistence and reason, she has contributed to a broader understanding of women and Islam, in Canada and abroad.
