Patricia Martens is committed to improving the health of Manitobans. A Professor professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manitoba, and Director director of the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy, she has conducted ground-breaking studies on the health of First Nations, MetisAboriginal people and people with mental illness, as well as interventions to increase breastfeeding rates, which have guided the work of policy makers in Canada and abroad. She has also convened innovative partnerships between academics, heads of health authorities and government that enable planners to use research in programs and policies to enhance population health.
