As mayor of Vancouver and then premier of British Columbia for three consecutive terms, he spearheaded initiatives to enhance the liveability of the city and the prosperity of the province. Under his leadership, British Columbia established a New Relationship with First Nations, introduced innovative climate change measures, and hosted a highly successful 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. His distinguished service culminated in his role as Canada’s high commissioner to the United Kingdom.
