Former chancellor of the University of Winnipeg, he strives to create more inclusive spaces in his region, notably through the creation of the Opportunity Fund, which offers financial support to under-represented and non-traditional students. Co-owner of several leading retail stores, he has shared his expertise on various boards and initiatives, notably as chair of the successful Millennium Library Community Campaign for the expansion of the Winnipeg Public Library.
