Throughout her distinguished career, Lynn Zimmer has championed the issue of violence against women. The former executive director of YWCA Peterborough Haliburton, she is also a founding member of Interval House, the first women's shelter in Canada to spearhead essential services for victims of abuse. She is a mentor with the Trudeau Foundation and a member of the advisory council on Canada’s Strategy to Prevent and Address Gender-based Violence. She was also the first woman Chair of the Peterborough Police Service Board.
