Warrant Officer Wolaniuk was deployed with 12 Field Squadron to Patrol Base Sperwan Ghar, Afghanistan, from February to September 2008. He proactively planned and carried out infrastructure improvements that significantly enhanced force protection and soldiers’ quality of life. He also improved relations with locals by seeking every opportunity to employ Afghan workers. In the troop commander’s absence, he took over the leadership and successfully executed multiple complex combat operations.
Warrant Officer Wolaniuk’s dedication greatly contributed to operational success.
