Commander Virgin, commanding officer of Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship TORONTO, was deployed as the commander of Operation SEXTANT, from July 25 to December 15, 2007. His exceptional skills and initiative were useful during sometimes tense and potentially hostile international negotiations, and in search and rescue operations. His diplomatic tact enhanced Canada’s reputation in the eyes of Allied partners and the international community.
