Major Goodyear served as the finance officer of Joint Task Force Afghanistan, Rotation 2, from August 2006 to January 2007. By providing a clear vision, which he sustained with dedication, Major Goodyear promoted the authority of the Afghan National Bank and helped to increase the foreign use of Afghan currency.
