From July 2017 to January 2019, while serving onboard Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship Ville de Québec as coxswain, Chief Petty Officer 1st Class Savard demonstrated exemplary leadership. During the ship’s operational transition, he played a key role in creating a united, trained and combat-ready crew. He was a force multiplier in the mission’s success as part of Canada’s contribution to NATO’s deterrence measures in the Mediterranean. Chief Petty Officer 1st Class Savard’s contribution greatly benefitted the ship’s crew and exemplified Canada’s defence policy: Strong, Secure, Engaged.
