With the desire to honour the Canadian soldiers who lost their lives in combat in Afghanistan, David Sopha created a memorial painting entitled Portraits of Honour. In 2011, the mural went on a cross-Canada tour dedicated to the families who had lost a loved one, visiting the hometowns of the fallen and communities housing a military base, helping the families to move through their grief.
