The late Peter deMarsh was a tireless advocate for the interests of small woodlot owners. He founded and headed groups at the provincial, national and international levels that championed locally controlled forestry operated by people whose livelihoods, heritage and families were tied to their land. The many partnerships he built across the country and around the world strengthened the voice of smallholder farmers, and promoted sensible, sustainable forestry practices.
