Medal of Bravery
On March 19, 2010, Francis Bédard and Michel Michaud rescued a man from a burning vehicle, in Saguenay, Quebec. Following a collision between a truck and a tractor-trailer transporting a load of logs, the truck was destroyed and the driver was killed instantly. The tractor-trailer had rolled into the ditch and caught fire. Messrs. Michaud and Bédard, who were driving by the scene, stopped their vehicles and got out to help. While Mr. Bédard called 911, Mr. Michaud climbed up into the tractor-trailer's smoke-filled cab and punched out the window to extract the driver. Mr. Bédard climbed up beside Mr. Michaud to help. Despite the danger posed by several small explosions, both men were able to pull the victim to safety.
