Medal of Bravery
On November 14, 2008, Constable Mike Biron, of the Akwesasne Mohawk Police, and Border Services Officer Yves Soumillon tried unsuccessfully to rescue two people from a burning vehicle, on Cornwall Island, Ontario. After being struck by a speeding van, the victims' car burst into flames. Arriving at the scene, Constable Biron and Mr. Soumillon both tried desperately to open the damaged doors. Unfortunately, they were unable to pull the victims out before the flames completely engulfed the vehicle.
