On May 10, 2000, Glenn John Mooswa saved a two-year-old boy from a burning house in Loon Lake, Saskatchewan. After discovering that his house was on fire, Mr. Mooswa managed to get his spouse and her granddaughter out through a bedroom window, but was forced outside by the blaze before he could reach another child's room. Determined to save the toddler, he kicked the side door open, ran through a wall of thick black smoke and searched frantically for the young victim until the flames and choking fumes drove him out again. Despite burns to his face, chest and shoulder, he crawled back inside and groped around until he felt the boy's leg, then carried the child outside to safety moments before the house was completely engulfed.
