On May 21, 1999, Ian Goudy pulled a man from a burning car that had spun out of control, hit a tree and come to rest in a pool of gasoline spilling from its ruptured tank. Hearing crashing sounds around midnight, Mr. Goudy rushed outside his home to witness flames shooting through the sunroof opening and a young man trapped inside the wreck. With complete disregard for his own safety, Mr. Goudy reached inside the vehicle, released the driver's seatbelt and pulled him from the burning pile of rubble. Sadly, the victim did not survive.
