Medal of Bravery
In the early morning hours of 9 January 1983, Reginald Lindquist and Saralyn Semeniuk risked their lives in an attempt to rescue a woman who was overcome when fire gutted a home in Dryden. The woman had entered the burning house to save her father when she collapsed near the door leading to the porch. Mr. Lindquist was summoned to the scene by his mother-in-law and encountered a man who had been unable to find his wife inside the porch. At once, Mr. Lindquist entered on his hands and knees and located the woman but was forced to retreat by the blistering heat and dense smoke. Keeping close to the floor, Saralyn in turn crossed the porch and tried to pull her mother to safety. With the heat and smoke becoming increasingly unbearable, Saralyn had to crawl back through the door. Mr. Lindquist told the man where to find his wife and the man made his way to her and dragged her outside.
