Hugh Greene, M.B.
Medal of Bravery
Hugh Greene singlehandedly disarmed a thief who had brutally attacked a sixty-two year-old woman in Vancouver, British Columbia, on the night of January 9, 1974. Mr. Greene, who was driving by the scene of the crime, witnessed the assailant stab the elderly woman several times and then take flight. Jumping from his car, the rescuer gave chase through the streets and a parking lot until the culprit was finally cornered. Without a moment's hesitation and with complete disregard for his own safety, Mr. Greene pushed the criminal with force against a fence and then held him to the ground until the police arrived.
