- Awarded on: January 10, 1983
- Invested on: March 04, 1983
In the afternoon of 28 August 1981 Alexander Ullock, while sitting on the front steps of his house, witnessed an accident in which a truck hit a utility pole and immediately caught fire. On arrival at the scene he found the vehicle burning fiercely and the semi-conscious driver trapped between the seat and the dashboard. On his own, Mr. Ullock braved the intense heat and smoke to free the man and dragged him away from the cab. Seconds later two explosions consumed the wreckage.
